A Reimagined Front Landscape
Designing with Intention
The design inspiration for this landscape started with the front door. Rather than treating the front yard as a collection of individual planting beds, the landscape was designed as a series of spaces and views that guide the eye and create a sense of arrival. The front door became the primary focal point and organizing element, with the landscape extending outward from the architecture.
To emphasize this connection, we created an elongated oval formed with Wintergreen Boxwoods. The shape helps visually extend the entrance into the landscape while providing a strong evergreen framework for the garden. From there, layers of plants were introduced to create depth, texture, and seasonal interest while reinforcing the geometry of the overall design.
The design approach shifted on the right side of the yard. We needed an informal, somewhat hidden walkway leading toward the side porch. Rather than creating another formal path, we used woodland-style plantings to create an area of discovery, a more casual garden experience that reflects the informal nature of the side porch.
The planting palette was selected to ensure the garden offers something to experience throughout the year. Evergreen plants provide structure in every season, while perennials and flowering plants contribute color, texture, and fragrance. The result is a landscape that changes with the seasons while maintaining a strong underlying framework.
Reimagining an Aging Landscape
The project began with a complete removal of the property's aging and outdated landscaping. From there, the landscape was reimagined to create a refined, low-maintenance garden that complements the home's architecture while adding year-round beauty, structure, and interest.
The renovation included:
Installation of a new Zeon Zoysia fine-blade lawn
Redesigned planting beds with clean, flowing lines
Slate insert walkways crafted from repurposed slate found on-site
A new irrigation system for efficient watering
A professionally designed landscape lighting system
A complete planting installation
Fresh brown cypress mulch throughout the landscape
A Carefully Curated Plant Palette
Every plant was selected for its beauty, performance, and ability to thrive in Georgia's climate while contributing to a cohesive design.

Together, these plantings create a layered garden with evergreen structure, seasonal blooms, varied textures, and fragrance. The combination of formal evergreens and more naturalistic woodland-style plants allows the landscape to feel both intentional and inviting.
Built for Beauty and Ease of Maintenance
In addition to its visual impact, the landscape was designed with long-term performance in mind. A new irrigation system promotes healthy plant growth while supporting efficient watering, and professionally installed landscape lighting extends the enjoyment of the garden into the evening hours while highlighting the home's architectural features and key landscape elements.
The result is a landscape that balances structure and discovery, formality and informality, and beauty and practicality. The front entrance is given a strong sense of arrival, while the side garden offers a more relaxed experience.
